KCRC job fair at Tai Wai Station
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today (Monday) organised a Job Fair at East Rail Tai Wai Station to fill about 190 posts required for the opening of Ma On Shan (MOS) Rail and Tsim Sha Tsui Extension (TSTE) as well as for the existing lines.
A total of 800 job seekers attended the Job Fair.
The new vacancies are mainly in non-management ranks and fall within three occupational groups, including train operations, station operations and maintenance.
KCRC Personnel Manager Mr Francis Wong said, "The Corporation requires a total of about 360 new staff to prepare for the opening of MOS Rail and TSTE. Most of the vacancies have already been filled by external recruitment and internal promotion or deployment. About 130 outstanding posts will need to be filled by new recruits."
"Suitable candidates will be invited to attend interviews within the next six weeks."
Minimum entry qualifications for jobs in train and station operations are five passes in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, including Chinese and English languages, and varying years of working experience for different ranks. For maintenance staff, entry qualifications include certificates in various engineering disciplines and varying years of working experience for different ranks.
Starting salary for the posts in non-management ranks ranges from about $8,700 to $13,500 per month.
Application forms and information on the vacancies will continue be available for collection at the KCRC's Customer Services Centres along East Rail, West Rail and Light Rail. All applications will close on 31 July 2004.
