West Rail Fun All The Way

To enhance public awareness of West Rail and add value to West Rail services, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) has created the ‘West Rail Fun All The Way’ promotion campaign. Starting from today, in addition to enjoying convenient and comfortable train service on West Rail, passengers can also enjoy special weekend programmes designed to help them explore the shopping and scenic spots best reached by West Rail.
The Launching Ceremony of ‘West Rail Fun All The Way’ was held at West Rail Tin Shui Wai Station today. The officiating guests included Miss Janet Wong, Deputy Director of the Home Affairs Department, Mr Samuel Lai, Acting Chief Executive Officer of KCRC, as well as the Chairmen of the District Councils along the West Rail alignment and the District Officers.
Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Mr Samuel Lai said that there are a number of scenic spots along West Rail with historic and cultural value that are excellent destinations for fun and educational family visits. There are also many shops and famous restaurants located in or near West Rail stations. As part of the ‘West Rail Fun All The Way’ campaign, West Rail passengers can also enjoy at weekends or Sundays a variety of performances including a children’s musical and dancing performances and a Karate demonstration, and take part in several community activities such as a health check and bazaar at the stations.
To encourage families to use West Rail for fun and leisure outings during weekends and public holidays on 12 June KCRC launched the ‘$2 Travel’ programme for children and the elderly, in addition to the interchange discount with MTR at Nam Cheong and Mei Foo stations introduced in May. KCRC has also opened a new green minibus route, 95K, that runs between the West Rail Tsuen Wan West Station and MTR Tsuen Wan Station. West Rail passengers can use the minibus to enjoy a free feeder service. KCRC will continue to explore opportunities to improve its connectivity for the convenience of passengers.
