KCRC gears up services for the new school term
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will gear up its railway services to cope with the expected increase in transport demand from students on the first few days back at school.
On 1 September, the newly reformed Light Rail route 705, which was introduced on 22 August, will continue to run in a circular mode from Tin Shui Wai Stop (underneath the West Rail Tin Shui Wai Station) via Tin Tsz, Ginza, Tin Yuet, Wetland Park, Tin Hang, Chung Fu, Tin Shui, Tin Yiu and back to Tin Shui Wai Stop at a frequency of seven-minute intervals.
A peak-hour short route 751P will also continue to ply between Tin Yat and West Rail Tin Shui Wai Station. The route runs in parallel with the existing route 751. Routes 751 and 751P will run at a combined frequency of four-minute intervals.
Additional buses will be deployed in the Tin Shui Wai area where the transport demand will be significantly higher during the first few days of the school term to supplement Light Rail service if required.
As for East Rail and West Rail, additional trains will be on standby. Extra staff will also be deployed at stations to maintain order and provide assistance to passengers. KCRC will closely monitor passenger traffic at all stations and regulate train services to ensure a smooth operation.
