New issue of Trackrecord released
Ma On Shan Rail of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) is ready for its final trial operations in the last quarter of the year, during which trains will be test-run according to normal operating schedule. The current issue of Trackrecord, KCRC’s staff newsletter, carries an article reporting on the progress of the new railway which is scheduled for completion at the end of the year.
Also in this issue is a status report on the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, which was almost 50% complete in its civil construction works by the end of August. The project is on track for completion in the first half of 2007.
To gear up for the commissioning of the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension and the East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, numerous exercises have been planned simulating different emergency scenarios. One of the first emergency drills reported in Trackrecord involved 500 KCRC staff and family members who played the role of passengers.
Another interesting article is an interview of KCRC’s Senior Director, Capital Projects, Mr K K Lee. Described as a legend in KCRC, Mr Lee shared his experience since he started his career as an apprentice 40 years ago.
More West Rail concessions are featured in Trackrecord, most notably the extension of the One-Month Pass to the end of the year and the first free bus-rail interchange scheme with New World First Bus Services Limited. Meanwhile, the diverse West Rail Fun All the Way activities continue to attract passengers.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
