Timetable of Shanghai – Kowloon Through Train changed
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) announced today that with effect from 11 November (Thursday), the timetable of the Shanghai-Kowloon Through Train will be changed, due to improvement works to be carried out on the Zhejiang-Jiangxi line in the Mainland.
The improvement works will only affect the departure and arrival times of the through train at Shanghai Station; the departure and arrival times at Hung Hum Station will remain unchanged.
At present, the Shanghai-Kowloon Through Train runs on alternate days. Starting from 11 November, the northbound through train will depart Hung Hom at 3:00pm and arrive Shanghai at 4:38pm on the following day. The journey will take 25 hours 38 minutes. The southbound train will now depart Shanghai at 10:24am and will arrive in Hung Hum at 1:10pm on the following day. The journey time for southbound trains will be 26 hours 46 minutes.
The Zhejiang-Jiangxi line improvement works will enhance the overall speed and efficiency of the national railway system. The works are scheduled to be completed by the second half of 2005. The improvements will eventually shorten the journey time of the Shanghai-Kowloon Through Trains.
