New issue of Trackrecord released
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) commissioned its Tsim Sha Tsui Extension on 24 October 2004. To mark the occasion, a ceremony was held at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Officiating guests included the Secretary for Environment, Transport and Works Dr Sarah Liao and KCRC Chairman Mr Michael Tien. The event is covered in the latest issue of Trackrecord, KCRC’s staff newsletter.
The same issue reports on two awards recently won by KCRC - the British Construction Industry Awards 2004 and the Asia Logistics Awards 2004.
Two West Rail station projects gained recognition in the British Construction Industry Awards: the Mei Foo Station project won the International category and the Nam Cheong Station project received a "High Recommendation".
KCRC was named the Rail Freight Operator of the Year under the Asia Logistics Awards. This is the third consecutive year that KCRC has won this prestigious title, which is highly respected by industry professionals.
Another interesting article featured KCRC’s Ecological Enhancement Area at Lok Ma Chau, which is proving popular with the wildlife even though work is only about half complete. Animals spotted at the site include a few endangered species. And the most recent visitor was a Greater White-fronted Goose, which was seen in Hong Kong for the first time.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
