Ma On Shan Rail services affected
Services of a section of the Ma On Shan Rail were affected at around noon today due to the failure of a trackside axle counter south of Tai Wai Station.
The incident happened at about 11:35am. Trains turning around at Tai Wai were affected. Emergency repair was carried out and normal services resumed at 12:34pm after a defective computer card inside the axle counter was replaced.
During the period, train frequency of the section from Tai Wai to City One stations was reduced to ten-minute intervals. Services between City One and Wu Kai Sha stations were unaffected, operating at four-minute intervals.
A spokesman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) said the incident did not affect passenger safety in any way. The Corporation would send the computer card to the supplier for detailed examination in order to determine the cause of the failure and to prevent recurrence.
KCRC apologises for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
