East Rail One Month Pass to go on sale tomorrow
The East Rail One-Month Pass of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will go on sale tomorrow (25 March 2005) at all East Rail and Ma On Shan Rail stations (except Lo Wu and Racecourse stations).
The April One-Month Pass will be sold at a special price of $300. Starting from tomorrow until 12 April, passengers can bring their Octopus cards to the ticket office of any East Rail or Ma On Shan Rail stations (except Lo Wu and Racecourse stations) to buy the monthly pass. The validity of the pass will be recorded in the microchips of the Octopus cards.
First time buyers of the East Rail One-Month Pass are eligible to enter a lucky draw with the first prize being one-year unlimited free rides on East Rail and Ma On Shan Rail (only applicable to standard class journeys and excluding rides to and from Lo Wu). The entry deadline is 7 September 2005.
Holders of the April One-Month Pass can enjoy the privilege of buying the monthly pass of the following months at a special rate of $300.
Passengers with the monthly pass can enjoy unlimited standard class journeys on East Rail and Ma On Shan Rail, except to and from Lo Wu and Racecourse stations in that month. They will also enjoy free East Rail feeder bus services on routes K12 (except Sundays and public holidays), K14, K16, K17 and K18. Pass holders travelling first class are, however, required to obtain first class authorisation and pay the difference between first class and standard class fares upon exiting the ticket gate. Monthly pass holders could not enjoy free K11 feeder bus service or interchange discount with MTRC, green minibus and bus operators.
In addition, KCRC calls on passengers to bring their Octopus cards to buy the monthly pass at the earliest opportunity to prevent too many passengers buying the pass at the end of March or on 1 April and thereby having to wait for a long time.
