KCRC launches the "Forever Green" campaign
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) recently launched the "Forever Green" campaign which kicked off a series of environmental activities planned for 2005.
The ceremony was covered in the latest issue of Trackrecord, the Corporation’s staff newsletter. Dr Michael Chiu, Acting Director of Environmental Protection Department attended the ceremony and presented the "Indoor Air Quality Certificate" to KCRC Chief Executive Officer (Acting) Mr Samuel Lai, in recognition of the good air quality at KCRC House, the Corporation’s headquarters in Fo Tan. He also welcomed KCRC’s participation in the Department’s Wastewi$e Scheme, a programme that encourages companies to reduce the amount of waste they generate.
The same issue carried several stories on KCRC’s participation in community activities, most notably the annual Standard Chartered Marathon. Not only did the Corporation sponsor several teams of runners to take part in the charity event, its southbound East Rail and MOS Rail services also commenced about one hour earlier on the day of the Marathon in order to facilitate the athletes living in the New Territories to arrive at Tsim Sha Tsui before the race began.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
