KCRC and RTHK co-launch Train Library

The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) and RTHK Radio 1 have teamed up again to encourage the reading culture. The ‘Train Library’, a brand new initiative, was announced today at Sha Tin Station offering free library services to passengers.
The launch ceremony for the ‘Reading Train 2005 - Train Library’ was held today at Sha Tin Station. Officiating guests included Mr Samuel Lai, Acting Chief Executive Officer, KCRC; Mr Shiu Lo Sin, Assistant Director of Broadcasting (Radio), RTHK; and pop artist Miss Joey Yung.
To encourage passengers to share the joy of reading, the Train Library set up at Sha Tin Station provides library services completely free of charge. All books in the Train Library have been donated by members of the public. Both KCRC and RTHK are appealing to the public for further donations of books in good condition such as story books, novels and reference books, etc (except newspapers and magazines) to the Train Library. Book-collection points have been set up at selected East Rail Customer Services Centres (at East Tsim Sha Tsui, Hung Hom, Sha Tin, Tai Po Market and Sheung Shui). Passengers may borrow a book from the Train Library and return it to the Train Library or any of the above East Rail Customer Service Centres. Passengers are expected to keep the books clean and return them to the above centres within two weeks. Passengers will also receive a KCR souvenir when they donate a book at the Customer Services Centres. This offer is valid while souvenir stocks last.
