New issue of Trackrecord released
The latest issue of Trackrecord, the staff newsletter of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), reports on the launch ceremony of the "KCRC Safety Campaign 2005". With an aim to enhance passengers’ safety awareness, the launch was only the beginning of a series of activities scheduled to last until the end of the year.
The progress of the East Rail’s Sheung Shui Station Expansion Project is also reported in the same issue. Since July 2003, improvement works at Sheung Shui Station have been carried out to dovetail with the commissioning of the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line in 2007. Costing a total of HK$138 million, the works include both the extension of the station concourse and the platforms. By April this year, about 60% of the works had been finished and the entire project is scheduled for completion in early 2006.
Another article features KCRC’s success in maintaining good indoor air quality at its headquarters building --- KCRC House. The Corporation has participated in the Environmental Protection Department’s voluntary Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Certification Scheme for Offices and Public Places. A Good Class IAQ Level was first achieved in July 2004 and a renewed certification at the same level was recently awarded to the Corporation in May 2005.
On the customer front, starting from 23 June 2005, a new voice-recognition feature will be incorporated into the "KCRC Passenger Service Hotline – 2929 3399" to provide enhanced services for KCRC passengers. By quoting the name of the station where they will start the journey and the destination, callers will be able to obtain information on the first and last trains as well as the fares.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
