New issue of Trackrecord released

The new issue of Trackrecord, the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation’s staff newsletter, details recent developments in the Kowloon Southern Link (KSL) project. The KSL has made major strides: on 24 June the Chief Executive in Council authorised the project under the Railways Ordinance, and prior to this, the Director of Environmental Protection issued the necessary Environmental Permit on 3 May.
The cover story reports the launch of the "KCRC Destination Care" Campaign at West Rail’s Kam Sheung Road Station. The campaign, a series of activities related to education and self-development, is aimed at under-privileged children in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai. Educational Tours, a major highlight of the Campaign, offer these children a free return trip from the North West New Territories to Tsim Sha Tsui on weekends. Members of the KCRC Volunteer Team lead the children on visits to Tsim Sha Tsui museums to broaden their horizons. For many children, the tours are their first opportunity to visit the museums.
Another article takes an in-depth look at the KCRC’s Property Development Department, which is busy coordinating tenders for 10 property developments above or in close proximity to KCR stations. The projects, to be tendered in 2005 and 2006, will add more than 10,000 flats a year to the Hong Kong housing market.
Trackrecord, the official staff newsletter of the KCRC, is published once a month and distributed to all employees, the Corporation’s key stakeholders, senior government officials, the media and community leaders.
