KCRC strengthens services on Christmas and New Year’s Eve
 
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will strengthen the services of East Rail, Ma On Shan Rail, West Rail, Light Rail and KCR Bus on Christmas Eve (24 December) and New Year’s Eve (31 December) for the convenience of the travelling public.
The special service arrangements are as follows:

24 AND 31 DECEMBER

East Rail Domestic Line
(Sheung Shui — East Tsim Sha Tsui)

All night service
(5-15 minute frequency after midnight)

Ma On Shan Rail

All night service
(6-15 minute frequency after midnight)

West Rail

All night service
(10-15 minute frequency after midnight)

Light Rail

All night service for routes 507, 614P, 615P, 705 & 706
(12-15 minute frequency after midnight)

KCR Bus

Service of KCR Bus routes 506, K51, K16 & K73 will be extended to 2:00 am after midnight
(10-15 minute frequency after midnight)

Passengers holding the West Rail and East Rail December One-Month Pass are entitled to travel on the respective railway and its designated feeder services till 5:30am on 1 January 2006. Passengers holding the West Rail Discovery Pass of 24 and 31 December are entitled to travel on West Rail and designated feeder services till 5:30am on the next day.
K16 KCR Bus
To facilitate the special road traffic arrangements in the evening of 24 and 31 December, the stops of bus route K16 (West Rail Nam Cheong Station-East Rail East Tsim Sha Tsui Station) at Kowloon Park Drive and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (both directions) will be temporarily closed and the bus will terminate at Lai Chark Middle School opposite China Hong Kong City.
Cross-Boundary Service
KCRC will closely monitor passenger traffic, maintain close contact with government departments and boundary authorities, and regulate trains to and from Lo Wu during this period to ensure a smooth flow of traffic at the checkpoint.

The Lo Wu checkpoint is open from 6:30am to midnight. The first and last northbound trains depart from East Tsim Sha Tsui Station at 5:28am and 11:05pm respectively. Additional staff will be deployed and extra trains will be on standby. Notices will be displayed at all stations informing passengers of any special service arrangements.
Additional enhancements on the use of All KCR One-Month Passes
In order to bring greater convenience to passengers, KCRC has further enhanced the usage conditions for all One-Month Passes on the KCR network. Starting 23 December 2005, passengers can still travel with the respective passes on the valid journeys even if the Octopus card with One-Month Pass code has a zero or negative value. For journeys on respective railways where a fare needs to be deducted, passengers must add value to their Octopus card before entering the ticket gates.
