Light Rail service incident
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today announced that at 7:34 pm tonight, when a couple set of Light Rail vehicles (LRV) from Yau Oi to Tin Yat arrived at Platform 1 of Siu Hong Stop, the driver opened the train doors before the rear compartment completely entered the platform; hence passengers inside the rear compartment were not able to alight. The LRV then closed its doors and headed for Lam Tei Stop.
The incident caused about 30 passengers to change to another LRV at Lam Tei Stop to return to Siu Hong. Light Rail service was not affected by the incident, and no passenger was hurt. Initial findings revealed that the incident might have been caused by human error, and the driver concerned has already been suspended from work for further investigation.
KCRC had reported the incident to the Hong Kong Railway Inspectorate, and would like to extend its apologies to all affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.
