Through Train service affected
At about 3:08 pm, Ktt through train T814 en-route Guangzhou, hit a trespasser in the track area near Xianchuan. This regrettable incident, no fault of the train driver, resulted in the train having to wait for a locomotive provided by the Mainland authorities, and arrived three hours late at Guangzhou Station.
KCRC offers its apology to those passengers involved in this tragic incident, none of whom suffered injuries but were put to considerable inconvenience.
The Ktt train involved was taken out of service for overnight inspection and necessary repairs.
As a result of the incident, the following through train services were cancelled:
T819 3:45 pm Guangzhou East Hung Hom
T820 6:06 pm Hung Hom Guangzhou East
T825 8:20 pm Guangzhou East Hung Hom
With the assistance of the Mainland authorities, KCRC arranged for passengers returning to Hong Kong by T819 and T825, to do so by other through train services. Passengers who would have travelled to Guangzhou by T820, were transported to Lo Wu by a special non-stop service and assisted in transferring to an onward journey by train from Shenzhen Station. A refund of the Ktt ticket cost was arranged for these passengers to meet their onward journey ticket cost.
KCRC expects all Ktt services to be running normally tomorrow, 15 April, and apologises again to all passengers put to any inconvenience by the delay and disruption resulting from the accident at Xianchuan.
