Intensive promotion on KCRC safety message during the Golden Week of May
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will deploy Safety Ambassadors at Lo Wu Station during the Golden Week of May to distribute leaflets on "Safety Tips" and souvenirs to cross-boundary passengers. The promotional period will start from 29 April until 7 May. Safety ambassadors will station at the Arrival Hall of Lo Wu Station between 0930 and 1130.
In light of the previous incidents of passengers trespassing into the track area, KCRC will focus on publicising the safety message of "No Trespassing" through educational activities.
A two-week grace period has commenced on 23 April during which warnings will be issued to trespassers who breach the By-laws. KCRC will take prosecutions against any trespassers from 8 May onwards when the grace period ends. Pursuant to KCRC By-laws, any person trespassed onto the rail track without prior permission is an offence in law. The offender is liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $5,000 and to imprisonment for six months.
KCRC will deploy additional manpower on crowd control during the Golden Week of May, and increase train frequency if needed. The Corporation will closely monitor the flow of cross-boundary passengers with the Police and Immigration Department jointly.
KCRC Safety ambassadors distribute leaflets on "Safety Tips" and souvenirs to cross-boundary passengers to further promote the safety messages.
Promotional leaflets "Safety Tips" and souvenirs contain safety messages, to arouse public awareness to ride safe on KCRC railway systems.
