"Life Review Story Exhibition" kicks off at Hung Hom Station

The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) has jointly organised with Po Leung Kuk (PLK) a "Life Review Story" programme. Starting from today, some of the "Life Review Books" will be featured in a roving exhibition that will visit East Rail stations and PLK elderly centres.
The "Life Review Story" programme is one of the major volunteer service programmes jointly organised by KCRC and PLK. Exemplifying the spirit of "KCRC Destination Care", 46 members of the KCRC Corporate Volunteer Team joined the programme to assist 73 elderly people from 4 PLK elderly centres to compile their "Life Review Books" during the period from August to October 2005.
Through the sharing of stories and memories, the volunteers compiled a Life Review Book for each of the elderly participants in order to strengthen their sense of self-esteem.
The exhibition launched today will be on display at Hung Hom Station until 18 June. It will then visit Mong Kok Station from 19 to 25 June, and then move on to various PLK elderly centres starting 26 June.
Established in mid-2004, the KCRC Corporate Volunteer Team has about 300 members. Serving people in need, the team performed more than 3,000 hours of community service in 2005. Apart from the "Life Review Story" programme, another flagship KCRC Corporate Volunteer Team programme is the "Educational Tour". KCRC volunteers will lead groups of children from the North West New Territories on educational tours. The groups travel for free on West Rail in order to visit museums in Tsim Sha Tsui. The "Educational Tour" has been well received by the community since its launch last year. The programme received a Merit Award in the Corporate Volunteer Service Project Competition 2005, organised by Social Welfare Department. To benefit more people in need, the programme will be extended to East Rail and Ma On Shan Rail later this year.
