Chris Patten visits West Rail
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) welcomed Mr Chris Patten to West Rail today, during his visit Mr Patten also hosted a book signing and sharing session at West Rail Mei Foo Station. The event was co-organised with The Commercial Press.
Mr Patten, accompanied by Ir James Blake, Chief Executive Officer of KCRC, and Mr Charles Kwan, Assistant General Manager of The Commercial Press, travelled from Nam Cheong Station to Mei Foo Station by West Rail. During the journey, Ir Blake briefed Mr Patten on the railway's design and operational characteristics.
Mr Patten also met with twenty students from five secondary schools in Yuen Long at West Rail Mei Foo Station. In addition to sharing his love of reading and urging them to read more, he also recommended a book named "Scoop". The students took advantage of the opportunity to ask thought-provoking questions on a range of subjects.
Mr Patten then hosted an autograph session for his book, "Not Quite the Diplomat", which attracted over a hundred readers.
The signing session was arranged by The Commercial Press to tie in with the recent opening of its new outlet at West Rail Mei Foo Station.
