Ktt experiences locomotive failure
A Guangzhou-bound Ktt through train encountered a locomotive failure as it entered Lo Wu Station at about 6:49 pm today, halting the train on a side track. The mainline traffic was not disrupted.
After making necessary arrangements with the Shenzhen railway authorities and the HK Immigration Department, the 229 passengers on board were detrained. With the assistance of KCRC staff, the passengers went through the control points on both sides of the boundary and proceeded under escort to the Shenzhen Station where the Guangshen Railway Co. Ltd had made special arrangements to assign seats at no cost to them on two Shenzhen – Guangzhou trains departing at 8:52 pm and 9:04 pm tonight. It is expected they will arrive at Guangzhou between 10 pm – 10:30 pm tonight. Full refund will be made to the affected passengers upon the production of valid tickets of the journey at the Intercity Passenger Services Centre at Hung Hom Station within the next 30 days.
KCRC thanked all of those involved in enabling the affected passengers to continue their journey with minimal delay, and apologized to the passengers for the inconvenience caused. The Corporation will carry out an investigation into the cause of the incident.
