Special Hotline and Information Counters on Light Rail service improvement
To facilitate passengers obtain the latest information on the Light Rail service improvement plan which will take effect on 8 October, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will set up a special "Light Rail Service Enquiry Hotline" and "Customer Information Counters" at five Light Rail stops in Tin Shui Wai tomorrow.
Passengers are welcome to make enquiries on Light Rail and KCR bus service improvement programme in Tin Shui Wai by calling the "Light Rail Service Enquiry Hotline" at 3515-7545. Service hours of the special Hotline are from 8:00am to 8:00pm daily, between 3 and 15 October.
During the same period, "Customer Information Counters" will be set up at five Light Rail stops in Tin Shui Wai, including Tin Wing, Tin Yuet, Tin Sau, Wetland Park and Tin Heng. The Customer Information Counters will open from 9:00am to 12:00nn, and from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. KCR staff there will distribute promotional leaflet and small gift to passengers and help them familiarized with the service change.
Light Rail service improvement, which will take effect on October 8, will fully improve the services within Tin Shui Wai New Town and will benefit 270,000 Tin Shui Wai residents. The new improvement measures include combining Routes 761 and 761P. Service frequencies of the three Light Rail routes including 761P, 705 and 706 will be greatly enhanced. Passengers at the Tin Wing, Tin Yuet, Tin Sau, Wetland and Tin Heng going to Yuen Long are advised to take the enhanced Route 705 to Tin Fu Stop, and then change at the same platform there for Route 761P which will also have a more frequent service. Their average traveling time is expected to remain unchanged.
KCRC will offer a fare discount of more than 10% to passengers using Octopus cards to travel between the above five stops and Yuen Long. Adults can save $0.5 and children/senior citizen can save $0.3 for each journey. The discount will be offered form 8 October to 15 October 2006. Meanwhile, service of four bus routes will also be strengthened from 9 October onwards. They are K73 K74, K76 and K51. K74 will be extended to Pok Oi Hospital, while the frequencies of the other three routes will be enhanced.
