Art pieces from Centre Pompidou, Paris on display at KCR Art Corner

The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) joins hands with the Hong Kong Museum of Art for the first time to present the masterpieces from Centre Pompidou, Paris at the KCR Art Corner at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station.
Fifty-eight invaluable masterpieces selected from the Centre Pompidou in France have been on show at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from 30 September to 3 December. Taking this opportunity, KCRC features copies of 10 selected pieces of work from renowned artists such as Picasso, Modigliani and Brancusi at the KCR Art Corner for sharing with the public.
To bring art to the community, KCRC opened the KCR Art Corner at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station in March 2005. Since then, KCRC has sponsored a number of non-profit organisations and outstanding local artists for the display of 2-dimensional art pieces in the Art Corner.
Speaking at the opening ceremony today, Ir James Blake, Chief Executive Officer of KCRC thanked the Centre Pompidou, the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for bringing the masterpieces to Hong Kong.
Ir Blake said, "This exhibition marks a number of firsts for the Art Corner. It is the first time we have partnered with the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the first time we have exhibited works from overseas, and the first time we have displayed the works of world masters such as Picasso, Modigliani and Brancusi.
"In addition to providing a safe and reliable service, KCRC also contributes to the promotion of art and culture in Hong Kong. The Art Corner at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station not only provides a platform for artists to share their works with the public, but also makes KCR journeys more enjoyable for passengers.
"Other officiating guests at today's opening ceremony included Mr Jean-Pierre Thebault, Consul General of France in Hong Kong & Macau; Dr Louis Ng, Assistant Director (Heritage & Museums) of Leisure and Cultural Services Department; and Mr Tang Hoi Chiu, Chief Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Art.
