Broken window on an East Rail train

When a northbound East Rail train arrived at Kowloon Tong Station at 5:10 pm today, the Platform Supervisor on duty found that the exterior pane of a double-glazed window in the fifth coach of the train was broken.
Two staff were deployed to board and rope off the area concerned. As the interior window pane was still intact, there was no immediate impact to services. The train continued its journey to Lo Wu and was then sent back to depot for examination. A replacement train was put back into service.
There was no delay to East Rail service and no one was injured in the incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the window pane might have been hit by an unknown external object. A report was made to the Police.
