East Rail service affected by signal problem
A signal problem occurred north of KCR East Rail Shatin Station at around 5 am this morning. During the incident, train service north of Shatin Station was maintained at about a 10-minute interval while normal service at other sections was provided. Train service gradually resumed normal soon after 6 am following urgent repair works.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident was caused by the failure of a point machine.
KCRC issued notices to the electronic media to update the traveling public about the incident. Public announcements were made and notices were posted up at all East Rail stations to inform passengers.
Since the incident occurred early in the morning before the peak hours, only a small number of passengers were affected. KCRC would like to extend its apology to the affected passengers.
