Guangzhou-Kowloon Through Train service delays due to construction works on the Guangshen Line
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) was informed by the Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corporation (GRC) that due to the construction of the 4th track between Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the Mainland, Through Train services between Guangzhou and Hung Hom will be subject to delays.
A KCRC spokesman said that according to the GRC, temporary speed restrictions are imposed on all trains running in various sections of the Guangshen Line to facilitate the construction works. Consequently, train journey times are expected to be lengthened by about 15 to 40 minutes per trip. As a result, trains departing from either Guangzhou East Station or Hung Hom Station will also be delayed. Passengers should expect that upon arrival at the destination station, they might be about 30 to 80 minutes behind scheduled arrival times.
The spokesman said these temporary arrangements are expected to last until the construction works are completed by early March.
To inform passengers of the anticipated service delays, KCRC have put up notices outside the Immigration Halls at Hung Hom Station. Regular announcements are made at the passenger waiting lounge to inform passengers of the latest situation. The Intercity Passenger Services Hotline 2947 7888 will be enhanced to answer passenger enquiries. Ticket refund will be offered to passengers from now until 30 days after the scheduled departure date upon request.
KCRC thanks passengers for their understanding and tolerance, and apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
