KCRC strengthens services during Lunar New Year holidays
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) will extend the service hours of East Rail, Ma On Shan Rail, West Rail, Light Rail and partial KCR Bus on Chinese New Year's Eve (17 February) for the convenience of the travelling public.
The special service arrangements are as follows:
East Rail Domestic Line
(between Sheung Shui and
East Tsim Sha Tsui)
All night service
(5 to 15-minute frequency after midnight)
Ma On Shan Rail All night service
(6 to 15-minute frequency after midnight)
West Rail All night service
(5 to 12-minute frequency after midnight)
Light Rail All night service for routes 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P, 705, 706, 751 & 761P
(10 to 20-minute frequency after midnight)
KCR Bus Service of KCR Bus routes 506, K51, K73 & feeder bus route K16 will be extended to 2:00 am after midnight
(5 to 15-minute frequency after midnight)
Passengers holding the West Rail Discovery Pass and the KCR Domestic Travel Pass of 17 February are entitled to travel on respective railways and designated feeder services till 5:30am on the next day.
For the night of the first day of the Chinese New Year on 18 February, the service hours of all rail lines will be as usual with no service extension.
For passengers returning to the New Territories after the fireworks display on the second day of the Chinese New Year (19 February), East Rail domestic service between 8:30pm and 10:00pm on that day will increase to a frequency of 3 to 4-minute intervals.
Cross-Boundary Service
KCRC will closely monitor passenger traffic, maintain close contact with government departments and boundary authorities, and regulate trains to and from Lo Wu during this period to ensure a smooth flow of traffic at the checkpoint.
The Lo Wu checkpoint is open from 6:30am to midnight. The first and last northbound trains depart from East Tsim Sha Tsui Station at 5:28am and 11:05pm respectively. Additional staff will be deployed and extra trains will be on standby. Notices will be displayed at all stations informing passengers of any special service arrangements.
K16 Feeder Bus (Special arrangement on 18 and 19 February in Tsim Sha Tsui)
To facilitate the special road traffic arrangements for night parade on the first Lunar New Year Day (18 February) and fireworks in the evening of the second day of the Chinese New Year (19 February), the stops of feeder bus route K16 (West Rail Nam Cheong Station´╝ŹEast Rail East Tsim Sha Tsui Station) at Kowloon Park Drive and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (both directions) will be temporarily closed and the bus will terminate at Lai Chark Middle School opposite China Hong Kong City.
KCRC will work closely with the police and adopt crowd control arrangement at the stations as appropriate, passengers are advised to observe directory signages, station announcements and follow the directions of working staff at the scene. Also, passengers are reminded not to bring metallic balloons, oversized potted plants or inflammable substances on board.
