East Rail service affected
East Rail train service was affected tonight after a man jumped onto the tracks from north-bound platform (Lo Wu direction) in Kowloon Tong Station at around 10:19 pm.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a train was approaching the platform when the incident happened. The driver had sounded the horn and applied the emergency brake immediately.
During the incident, East Rail train service operated in two sections between East Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok; and between Tai Wai and Lo Wu at a frequency of 8 minutes respectively. KCRC arranged emergency buses to bring passengers to and from Mong Kok and Tai Wai at an interval of 5 minutes.
Train service was resumed normal at 11:12 pm. KCRC apologizes for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
