KCRC supports "Lunar New Year Gift Collection"
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) today handed over 300 Lunar New Year gifts to the "People's Food Bank" of the St James' Settlement for distributing to the needy.
This is the third consecutive year that KCRC participated in the Lunar New Year Gift Collection Programme organised by the St James' Settlement. Collection points were set up in KCRC offices, Customer Services Centres and shopping malls to collect donation of gifts, which included biscuits and candies, from staff, passengers and tenants of KCRC shops during the Lunar New Year period.
At the handover ceremony today, Ms Katy Lam, General Manager – Quality & Organisational Development said that the Corporation had been supporting this meaningful programme since 2005 to help the needy and to help spread awareness of environmentally friendly practices. She said the response from the staff and passengers had been satisfactory in the past years, making KCRC one of the major supporters of the programme.
Ms Lam added that the Corporation had a long tradition of supporting worthwhile charities that helped the less fortunate. Recognised as a good corporate citizen, the Corporation was named by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service as a "5-Year Awarded Organisation" in 2007 under the Caring Company programme.
